Dan Deacon in Whelans was definitely the most fun. The Saw Doctors at Glastonbury comes a close second.

This year is starting a lot better with British Sea Power in a few weeks, DJ Scotch Egg in February and best of all Mozaik at the end of the month in The Olympia. Also fingers crossed for an Andy Irvine & Paul Brady warm up gig ahead of their performance in Glasgow on the 30th.

I just found a recorded version of one of my favourite Andy Irvine songs from his live show - 'A Close Shave' by Bob Bickerton. Hurrah!

Daniel Johnston and So Cow both left me feeling really happy the last two nights.

I will soon be on the train to Killarney where me, Paula and her friend Eimear will be attending Pink (supported by Director) tomorrow. It's sure to be a classic.

I'm home from Glastonbury with a very blocked / sunburnt nose and a bit of a beard which unfortunately has to go tonight because of work in the morning.

Classic Glastonbury Moments = The Saw Doctors being amazing on Saturday night (such a great atmosphere in the tent and much signing along and dancing), inflatable pineapples on poles attacking some sort of furry creature on a pole during the first Brakes set, watching Ghostbusters in the cinema field and everyone singing along to the theme song

Not So Classic = Billy Bragg saying "You've just witnessed a classic Glastonbury moment" during his second set and his cover of 'One Love' with the words changed to "one love / one heart / lets drop the debt and it'll be alright" with a cringey finger pointing routine, missing every Warlords Of Pez set, cold feet

I should've gone to see less bands again and spent more time wandering, gone to the Chemical Brothers instead of the second Billy Bragg set, stayed in Lost Vagueness to see Fatboy Slim, drank more cider....

The Redneck Manifesto on Thursday for the first time since the Electric Picnic. Hope to see some of you there and maybe make it to the Lower Deck in time for the Party Weirdo set at their 7" launch followed by Herv. Should be deadly :)

I've spent the last hour an a half doing the washing up and wasting time online listening to the new XFM podcast by Dudley. Highly recommended and worth listening to for the Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons song alone. It's streamable too if you don't want to download.

I somehow managed to go 5 months without seeing Queen Kong. Happy to report they're as good as ever.

Estel on the other hand have never sounded worse to my ears. That's about the third time in a row I've been disappointed by them. I think I'm done with going to see them play. Their records are still cool though.

A nice and relaxing weekend was had in Gothenburg. Photos here. Check out the humping frogs and the snake who's about to paint the future! First taste of Swedish food? Kebabpizza washed down with pear cider of course. Yum. I found a copy of 'Showtime' by Steve Gullick (at last!) in a really cool bookshop that sadly looked like it was closing down.

Oh and if I hadn't been wandering around Gothenburg on Satuday afternoon I would've been sitting in a corporate box at Croke Park with directors from Diageo. Larry Mullen arrived during the match too. Seriously. Ah well.

another great gig from Andy Irvine last night. well worth journeying to Galway for. he played for 2 hours or more and finished with 'the blacksmith', 'arthur mcbride' and 'west coast of clare'. i talked to him very briefly too haha :)
